The Violence Against Women Project's mission is to improve the justice system's response to domestic and sexual violence and stalking by providing multi-disciplinary training and technical assistance to increase implementation of best practices, enhance offender accountability, and empower victims.
Our Mission
Creating a state where domestic and sexual violence are intolerable.
Overview
Utah Domestic Violence Coalition is a private non-profit organization recognized nationally for providing expertise concerning issues of domestic and sexual violence to member programs, community partners and others in Utah.
Our work is focused around these four essential areas:
ADVOCATE: We propose, promote, and advise on policies and practices that enhance victim safety and empowerment while raising awareness of the need for prevention and intervention.
COLLABORATE: We work closely with community-based victim service providers, key stakeholders, policy makers and community partners to provide comprehensive, trauma-informed, statewide services and responses. A membership structure is utilized to ensure the voices of survivors and local communities remain central to our work and mission. Membership is comprised of nonprofit victim service agencies and other allied agencies across Utah.
EDUCATE: We provide technical assistance and training to member programs, law enforcement and community partners, as well as work with media and others to raise awareness of domestic abuse and the need for prevention and intervention.
CONNECT: We operate a 24-hour confidential hotline, known as the LINKLine: 1-800-897-LINK (5465), that offers trauma-informed support and connects survivors, friends, family, service providers and others to local resources.
As a 501(c)3 non-for-profit organization, Utah Domestic Violence Coalition is comprised of members from across the state and various disciplines, and a Board of Directors, all of whom are committed to creating a state where domestic and sexual violence are intolerable.

Our History
Utah Domestic Violence Council (UDVC) was founded in 1978 by Utah Division of Child and Family Services (DCFS).
Initially formed as a community forum to start the necessary dialogue about domestic violence in the state of Utah.
UDVC incorporated in 1993 and, in 1994, the Council became independent of DCFS.
Designated as a 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization in 1998.
In 2013, UDVC adopted a new set of bylaws and transitioned from a council to a coalition.
Utah Domestic Violence Coalition is recognized nationally as the State domestic violence coalition in Utah.
